Pump up your self esteem in just 7 steps

In today’s society, image is everything. People are judged by everything, from the colour of their skin to the music they choose to listen to. When you look in the mirror, you criticise yourself. When you ponder your life’s goals, you judge yourself. You even judge yourself when you’ve done your best. With all our incessant judgement, it can be challenging to remain optimistic regarding self-image and personal growth. However, there are several ways to combat and defeat low self-esteem.

  1. Understand that no one is perfect

You will make mistakes. This is an inevitable part of life. It is good to practice learning from mistakes instead of belittling yourself and wallowing in self-pity. This will ensure that you minimise repeating the same ones. The resulting victories will also build your self-confidence regarding your decision-making skills. You will also refrain from maximising negative characteristics for the wrong reasons.

  1. Make a positive plan for self-improvement

If you are like the majority of humans on this planet, you may find that there are more dislikes than likes regarding your self-assessment. Do not allow this to discourage you. The most effective action to take is to make a positive plan to change the things you don’t like. Assess what is important to you. Would you like to improve family relationships? Would you want to lose weight? Is there a career goal that you never attained? Write these things down. Put them in order from the most important to the least. Ponder each topic, noting whom you’d like to involve. Choose individuals who will support you and share positivity. Determine the most accessible resources you have regarding improvement.

  1. Never foster negativity

Whatever you choose to partake in, you will become filled with. This is so for the “energy” you share. If you enjoy gossip, disagreement, confusion, and other forms of negative interaction, you are most likely to revel in it and become consumed by it. These things are unproductive and give you a pessimistic view of the world. Avoid negativity. Cheer yourself up with some flower bouquet online delivery. 1. Learn your strengths

Write all of these down in all capital letters on a list you can see daily. Positive affirmations are a great way to combat low self-esteem, and what better affirmations to begin with than your strengths? Wherever you are able, write them where you can see them. Anything that you find inspirational surrounds yourself with it. You can use anything that lifts your spirit and makes you feel joy in your surroundings. It does not simply end with words, although they are very effective.

  1. Learn your weaknesses

This is a complex but necessary step in combating low self-esteem. However, it is one of the most powerful things you can do. Take an honest assessment of things that frighten you, things that you don’t like, things that push your buttons, and all the things that rub you the wrong way. Leave it as a list. Review it from time to time and while doing so, identify the situation, triggers, or components. Eliminate as many of them from your unnecessary interactions as possible. Do not put yourself in a position where you are sure “you will fail”, don’t want to be, or know that you don’t belong. Trust your instincts. They were given to you for a reason.

  1. Be diligent

Diligence is a most valuable trait in that it is helpful in so many areas of life. We tire of the cliché phrases encouraging us to never stop trying, but they have been around so long because they are lifesaving. Simply imagine the man who was drowning, the child who was lost, or the woman who was sick. These simple words, in some way or form, came to them and encouraged them when all else seemed lost. We would be wise to follow the examples and the phrases equally. Never give up. You will succeed, but you can never succeed if you don’t try.

  1. Never compare yourself to anyone

Each individual has their own personality, gifts, and contribution to the world that no one else can deliver. Never degrade yourself because you favour another’s characteristic over your own, no matter what that trait may be. If it’s admirable, look for ways to infuse the value with your great personality. Take pride in knowing that you are one of these individuals. Enjoy the differences. We are each unique. Enjoy one another and practice gratitude for who you are. Besides, they probably wish they were you, too!
